MULTIPLE PREGNANCY OCTUPLETS

Today we draw a close to this weeks blog topic a mutiple pregnancy.

A pregnancy with octuplets, very rare and the only 2 live births todate with all 8 babies were born alive.

In 1998  Nkem Chukwu and her husband, Iyke Louis Udobi, became parents to Octuplets beginning with Ebuka who was born on December 8, 1998. The seven remaining children were delivered by Caesarean section on December 20 later that month. One baby later died.

Nadya Suleman, 33, from Whittier, California gave birth on January 26, 2009  to six boys and two girls at a hospital in California. It is only the second birth of octuplets in the U.S. and the Suleman Octuplets are the longest living octuplets in the U.S.

The Suleman Octuplets, who weighed from 1 pound 8 ounces (680 grams) to 3 pounds 4 ounces, were delivered by cesarean section at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Bellflower, California.
All babies were born alive and well even after being delivered 9 weeks premature. In a photograph running in Star magazine, Nadya Suleman is pictured with all eight chubby cute babies — Maliyah, Makai, Isaiah, Noah, Josiah, Jeremiah, Jonah and Nariyah — propped up in infant seats and wearing onesies and socks. All of the babies — six boys and two girls — look quite different.
Nadya relied on in vitro fertilizations to conceive all of her children. Between 2001 and 2006, she had six babies — four individual children and one set of twins. Then, in 2008, she became pregnant with eight babies. She went on to make history by giving birth to the world’s longest-living set of octuplets.

She takes alot of lack for cayying all babies to nearly full term some adviced termination of 2 or more babies to give the others a chnce to live but when you love every child individually who decides which child should be murdered to give the others a best chance.

Guidelines issued to fertility doctors today recommend that would-be mothers are implanted with only one embryo at a time wherever possible, to cut the odds of risky twin and triplet births.

However, there are fears that the restriction will also lower the odds of pregnancy  –  and so rob thousands of women of the joy of motherhood.
